Getting
Library Privileges
If you can write your name, you can have borrowing privileges in your name. Application forms are available at the Children's Library desk. Fill out the application and have it signed by a parent or guardian. It's that simple.
Regular patron cards are available for high school age-children and older.
Storytime
Every Monday at 11:00 AM. All ages welcome.
The Children's Library Gift Tree
A unique gift idea that help us continue to add to our Children’s Library collections.
Here's what you do:
- Select a book from our tree that you wish to donate & purchase it at a discount through the library.
- Can designate someone you’d like to honor with your donation.
Here's what we do:
- Add a bookplate to your donated book with your name & the name of the person you are honoring .
- Send an acknowledgement to the person you are honoring.
Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award
Every year, children all around Vermont have the oppportunity to pick their favorite book from the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book List. All the books on the list are in our Children's Library and your can download this year's list, too. Later in the year, children can vote for their favorite book. One book is selected as the winner each year. The 2005-2006 award winning book is Mary Downing Hahn's book called The Old Willis Place.
Computers
The Children's Library has three computers for general use. In addition, there is one computer that you can use to search our online catalog. The computers have a variety games, word processing, and the World Book encyclopedia. All computers have access to the Internet and Cyberpatrol protects young users from unsuitable Web sites.
Watching Movies
We have a collection of DVDs and videotapes that can be enjoyed in the Children's Library. However, only material from the Children's Library may be viewed.
