Karl Josef Kuwasseg (1802-1877), Austrian/French Kuwasseg's idyllic portrayal of a small French town conveys a strong sense of the artists affection for his adoptive homeland. Kuwasseg became a naturalized French citizen in 1870 and occupied much of his later career with such intimate scenes of village life brimming with vitality.
