Support the AthenaeumWhen the Athenaeum was dedicated in November of 1871, Edward T. Fairbanks described our institution as a “pioneer in its field” and “an inauguration of a new order of things.” It continues to be our goal, as stewards of this legacy, to provide innovative learning opportunities for our community members. The myriad of programs and services provided by the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum are made possible by the generosity of members, friends, volunteers, trustees, businesses and granting foundations and organizations. Help us to continue to serve as a vital community anchor. No gift is ever too small and your participation in our future is crucial to our success. Thank you. Library MembershipSt. Johnsbury residents are eligible for a free library card. Non-residents may purchase a one-year library card, including free admission to the Art Gallery, for $15.00. The Annual FundThe Annual Fund (January-December) raises the unrestricted financial support necessary to invest in programs and people. The Annual Fund provides the resources to not just survive but thrive.
Your Annual Fund donation may also include: A Memorial GiftDonations in memory of someone may be designated as part of any contribution to the Athenaeum. An Honor GiftDonations in honor of someone may also be designated as part of any contribution to the Athenaeum. The honoree (or their family) will receive a note acknowledging this gift. Friends of the AthenaeumThe Friends of the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, our largest formal volunteer group, consists of people who wish to be more involved in the day-to-day activities of the institution. The Friends of the Athenaeum meet monthly. Many Friends volunteer at fundraising events or special projects, serve as staff for our bookstore Secondhand Prose, volunteer in the Library, or act as docents for tours in the Art Gallery. This is a terrific opportunity to support the Athenaeum by donating your time, sharing your talents, and providing financial support. Join us as part of the Athenaeum family. Membership is $25 per person and includes a free library card and access to the Art Gallery. Download a membership form. Adopt an Author or BookA favorite author may be "adopted" with the agreement that all books published by the "adopted" author (usually one per year) will be purchased by the sponsor, at library discount. A favorite book may be "adopted" and added to our collection. Inquire at the Front Desk for the Adopt an Author or Book form. |
