The Skylight Project

The historic Art Gallery at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum is temporarily closed for skylights' restoration.  During this restoration project we will have docents available to answer your questions about our building's architecture and other artworks. The Art Gallery paintings are on display digitally in the Fiction Room via a special slide show.We look forward to reopening the Gallery in the Spring of 2011.See our image gallery showing the de-installation of the Art Gallery.

Exhibits and Displays

In the Upstairs Gallery through September - Our Distinguished Guests: Exploring the First 30 Years of Athenaeum Hall. Athenaeum Hall was Horace Fairbanks' contribution to the great tradition of public venues in St. Johnsbury. Since 1871 it has hosted some of the most famous speakers in the world.  Learn more about these famous visitors.  Visit http://stjathenaeum-hall.blogspot.com to learn much more the subjects of the exhibit. Beth Kanell will give a talk related to this exhibit on Sept. 15th at 7PM.

A History of the Walker, Masonic, and Roach Blocks - Main Street, Saint Johnsbury. An exhibit of photographs and images collected by Mark Giordano detailing the history of the Walker, Masonic and Roach Blocks on Main St. - the site of this July's devastating fire. Read more .
