Changing racial demographics predict that those who identify as white will be in the minority by 2050. Rev. Thomas considers whether Vermont—one of the whitest states in the nation—is prepared to confront the growing presence of people of color within its own borders. He reflects on the recent ideological civil war that aims to maintain the status quo.

 About Rev. Dr. Arnold Isidore Thomas

The Rev. Dr. Arnold Isidore Thomas is a United Church of Christ minister serving as pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Jericho, Vermont. He and his family have lived in Vermont for over twenty years. He arrived as Conference Minister of the Vermont Conference of United Church of Christ, the first African American denominational leader in the state. He was the co-founder of the Center for the Study of Science and Religion, a cooperative program of the Riverside Church in New York City and Columbia University, and currently moderates The Talk, formerly the Racism in America Forum, a webinar addressing bias and bigotry in the nation and state and ways to address them.
