ST JOHNSBURY MASTER ARTS & CULTURE PLAN
A project that builds on St. Johnsbury’s long-standing arts tradition to leverage distinctive assets, strengthen community identity, and position arts and culture as a catalyst for community vitality, economic development, and cultural connection.
Community Identity & Belonging
Arts and culture reflect a community’s history, values, and stories. They help residents feel connected to place, foster pride, and strengthen a sharedsense of identity across generations.
Access, Inclusion & Participation
A strong arts and culture ecosystem is accessible to all— across age, income, ability, and background. Opportunities to experience, create, and participate in the arts build social connection and ensure many voices are heard.
Economic & Community Vitality
Arts and culture act as catalysts for downtown vibrancy, tourism, and small business growth. They attract visitors, support creative entrepreneurs, and contribute to a lively, resilient local economy.
“By sharing art and cultivating culture, we enrich the lives of everyone who lives in and visits our community.” - Jody Fried, ED Catamount Arts
The initiative is being advanced through a collaborative partnership between the Town of St. Johnsbury and Catamount Arts. Local consultant Cynthia Stuart will help guide the planning process. For more information, contact Cynthia at cynthia@stuartconsult.com.
Funding for this project was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
